[configuration files] dhall

Okay, I know next to nothing about this at the moment but it does look interesting.
dhall is a programmable configuration language that is not Turing-complete. You can think of Dhall as: JSON + functions + types + imports
I can think of some places where this approach to config would be helpful and less dangerous that what I am currently doing.

[PearlTrees] Programming Languages

I've created a PearlTrees account and have part populated it with some programming language research which you can get to directly here.

[Observation] A Programmer's Bill of Rights

A Programmer's Bill of Rights

by Diarmuid J. Pigott

  • To be able to instruct a computer in their own native language
    • Have variables, field names, and attributes in their own native language
    • Have the programming lexemes semantically significant in their own language
    • Have programmatic components interrelated in a manner significant in their own language
    • Not to have to learn a foreign language to get by
  • To be able to share their work with other people without loss of expressivity or meaning

    [News] Codeaholic/LL

That's it then ... 99.9% of the languages that were listed down the left hand side are now over on the Code-a-holic Language List.

    Mate! I'm glad that's over.

    [Languages] The Left-Hand List

The list of programming languages on the left-hand side is shrinking. That's A to E done. They've all been moved over to the language list on Code-a-holic/LL.
Over the next few weeks I'll be posting the rest of the data I have on those languages (the bare minimum of name, link, and description.) If anyone's interested in the metacard database or having an XML-ish file with all of the extra details (platform, users' group, date of last activity, etc.), please leave a comment.
Leave a comment too, if you can see anything that needs changing / updating.

[VBScript] 99 bottles of beer - "class" version

Check out my 99 bottles of beer submission.

Look at the entries for your own favourite language. Some of them a dead boring. Submit an example that would show off the real power of the language.

If you're using a language that isn't on the board, submit a version of the song in that too.

Leftovers after a meal of Bruce the Goose

I had a blog. It was called "Bruce the Goose" (aka Virtual Unknowns) and it listed programming languages and tried unsuccessfully to keep up with them all. The names of all that I found are in the links list on the left. If you find any dead links or want to suggest additions or changes, please contact me.
